Sonntag 20/1/95
Sunday 20/1/95
Permit me the question, dear Mr Tepper, who is the German scholar (a doctor), of whom I have heard as having arrived in Adelaide and who is a member of the Royal Geographical Society of England. I have not been able to ascertain his name. Does he travel in the interests of geography ?

Kronecker was the person concerned (see M to O. Tepper, 27 January 1895) but M's information that he was a member of the RGS was mistaken: there is no RGS 'candidate for election certificate' for Kronecker, nor is he in Fellow listings in Year Books for the period.
Excuse the shortness of this letter as the product of a very late hour.
Your
Ferd. von Mueller.
Since the majority of the examination work for 1893

The year written by M is unambiguously 1893 but almost certainly should have been 1894. In the date on his letter M did not write '95' in error for '94': in 1895, 20 January was a Sunday. See also M to A. Macdonald, 6 December 1894, where M reported that he was expecting to be occupied conducting examinations during December 1894.
is now passed, I will soon get to work on your last overdue plants.
