This evening, dear Mr Macdonald I learn from Capt Pasco, that you have positively
decided to visit Brisbane at the meeting of the Austr. Assoc.,
and I am very glad of this. I have still some hope to attend also, but fear that
I shall be unable to make the needful time free. The work all through 1894 has been
enormous in my branch of the service, and the extensive examinations which at Governm.
Institutions I am as an honorary duty holding and am still to hold will take most
time up in December, and thus much other work will have to stand over til January.
I have only been able to commence writing my adress
within the last few days, and as the subject is such a large one I shall have an
spare moments during Christmas and Newyear days to finish it and write for it til
the last moment. Let me hope that I can see you more than once, before you start so
that I may discuss various matters with you and send my greeting through you should
I be unable to go.
