Letter not found. MS is an undated draft in Agardh’s hand. It was probably written in November or December 1888, as M expected the parcel to reach Agardh before Christmas 1888; see M to J. Agardh, 5 October 1888, which appears to have been posted simultaneously with the parcel. For Agardh's identifications of the specimens, see J. Agardh to M, undated (in this edition as 89-00-00b).
Hochgeehrt. Herr Baron.
Highly esteemed Baron.
The parcel with algae from Burnett River was completely torn open when it arrived here, and the various fragments bent up so that some specimens were completely broken and even missing various numbers, whether fallen out or previously taken out by you, you can sort out yourself. Afterwards I received no 43 in a letter.
Some specimens are too poor or fragmentary to be determined more exactly. There are perhaps 2-3 new species among them but one plant seems particularly interesting to me to be prominent No. 32;

Identified as Sarconecura miniata in Agardh’s undated list (see n. 1).
as I know only a small specimen of it from Cadiz in Spain. I hardly think that the two plants are to be differentiated.
