Erlauben Sie mir, edler Freund, die Vorfrage, ob Sie Ihre unvergleichliche Erfahrung in der Algenkunde auch zu unserer Aller Bestem für eine Bearbeitung der Genera verwenden würden? Eine solche von Ihnen würde mit der grössten Freude begrüsst werden Zwar sind in Ihren grossen Bänden die meisten genera vollständig definirt; aber es ist doch Manches hinzugekommen u Einiges hat doch auch Änderung erfahren. Es würde ein herrliches Geschenk für die Pflanzen-Wissenschaft sein, wenn Sie ein Heft lieferten im Format von B. & H. genera, das man neben dies Werk für Algen hinstellen könnte. Namentlich für die Ordnung grosser Sammlungen auch von Algen in Museen, wären "genera algarum" in hohem Grade erwünscht. Jedenfalls werden Sie aber doch wohl für den index plantarum der eben jetzt sowohl in München als in Belgien unter Bearbeitung ist, die Algen überwachen.

Ich schreibe auch bittend an Geheeb, — Könnte Hr Prof Berggren etwas thun? — Stephani, J. Mueller u Cooke, helfend einzugreifen, wodurch in unabhängigen Heften von diesen Forschern die genera der Cryptogamen in Anschluss an B. & H. gen. im selben Format nach dem Stand unserer jetzigen Kenntnis geordnet werden.

Permit me the question, noble Friend, whether you would employ your incomparable experience in the study of algae also to our very best for a revision of the genera? Such a thing from you would be greeted with the greatest joy. It is true most of the genera are defined completely in your large volumes, but surely there is much to be added and surely some have been altered too. It would be a magnificent gift for the science of plants, if you produced a part in the format of B & H Genera,

which for algae could stand next to this work. "Genera algarum" would be greatly desired, especially for the arrangement of large collections even of algae in museums.

Herbaria were usually arranged in systematic order.

At any rate, however, I suppose you will supervise the algae for the Index plantarum that is just now in preparation in Munich as well as in Belgium.

Durand (1888) included a section on Sapotaceae prepared by Radlkofer from Munich. The volume did not include cryptogamic genera.

to intervene helpfully, whereby the genera of cryptogams are arranged by these researchers in independent parts following B & H Genera in the same format according to the state of our present knowledge.
