Hochverehrter Herr Professor.

Ich beeile mich Ihnen mitzutheilen, dass mit dem Schiffe Monarch, in etwa 2 Wochen, die Ihnen fehlenden Bände unserer transact. of the Royal Society &c. Ihnen zugesandt werden sollen, da ich mit diesem Schiff eine Kiste an Dr Sonder zu befördern gedenke. Bei dieser Gelegenheit hoffe ich auch einige andere Gegenstände, die Ihnen willkommen sein möchten Ihnen mitzutheilen. Kann ich Ihnen oder andern Männern der Wissenschaft in Gotha nützlich sein, so gebieten Sie frei über mich. Wenn ich die Wünsche Ihres Museums kennte, würde ich wohl Manches zur Erweiterung der Sammlungen beitragen können und werde dies stets mit einer gewissen Pietät ausrichten, als ich als englischer Staats Beamter stets mit Bewunderung u dankbarer Wonne der Grösse jenes nun dahingeschiedenen Prinzen gedenke, welchen Gotha dem englischen Reiche u der Befestigung seiner Dynastie gegeben hat.

Ich vergass zu bemerken, dass nun auch die fehlenden Nummern meiner Fragm. phyt. Australiae für Sie bereit liegen. Sollte Proeschels grosse Karte von Australien vor der Absendung meines Consignements fertig sein, so werde ich mir eine Freude daraus machen, selbige beizufügen. Meinen innigen Dank, den ich im vorigen Briefe aussprach, für die abgesandten aber bisher noch nicht angelangten Karten, wiederhole ich mit Innigkeit.

In kurzer Zeit hoffe ich Ihnen eine andere Remisse zum Fond der nordafrikanischen Reisen deutscher Forscher liefern zu können.

are to be sent to you by the ship Monarch, as I intend to transmit a case to Dr Sonder by this vessel. I hope that I shall also be able to use this opportunity to communicate to you a few other articles that you may find acceptable. If I can be of use to you or any other men of science in Gotha, I am freely at your disposal. Were I to know the wishes of your museum, I could probably contribute quite a lot to broaden their collections, and shall always carry this out with a certain piety, because as an English public servant I always remember with admiration and grateful pleasure the greatness of the now departed Prince,
