Da ich nun in die 8te Decade meines Lebens trete, hochgeehrter Freund, muss ich eilen
grössere litterarische Arbeiten abzuschliessen, und so soll denn 1896 der dritte Census
of Australian Plants" erscheinen. Diesmal möchte ich denn auch die
mit aufnehmen, und so möchte ich Sie bitten, die Lichenes zu liefern. Ich ersuche
Agardh um die Algen, Brotherus um die Moose.
Da Ihnen in Genf der 1ste u 2te Census zugänglich ist, werden Sie sehen dass in Conformität
damit nur der Name, der Autor, sein Werk und etwa noch ein General Werk angegeben
werden sollen, denn indication der Austral. Colonien und andere Welttheile Die Arbeit
würde also keine Synonyme noch Varietäten enthalten, u sollte daher weder eine schwierige
noch langwierige sein. Kann Ihre unvergleichliche Meisterschaft dafür gewonnen werden?
Ihr Theil könnte ja zuerst in Europa gedruckt werden und dann in meinen dritten Census
übergehen.

Because I am now entering into the 8th decade of my life, highly esteemed friend,
I must hasten to conclude the larger literary works and so then in 1896 the third
Census of Australian plants
should be published.
This time I would like to include the
as well and so I would like to ask you to provide the lichens. I am requesting Agardh
for the algae and Brotherus for the mosses.
Because the 1st and 2nd Census
is available to you in Geneva, you will see that in conformity with it only the name,
the author, his work and some other general work should be cited, then indication
of the Australian colonies and other parts of the world. The work would hence contain
neither synonyms nor varieties, and should hence be neither a difficult nor boring
one. Can your incomparable mastery be won over to it? Your part could certainly be
printed at first in Europe and then merged in my third Census.
