Covenant for the restoration of the Insignia of a Companion of The Most Distinguished
Order of Saint Michael and Saint George.

The text of the covenant, in an unknown hand, was sent to M as an enclosure to G.
Gairdner to M, 26 April 1869. M inserted: 'Melbourne, Colony of Victoria', and 'tenth' and 'July', signed the
form and added his qualifications. Rudall signed his name and added his qualifications. The form was returned, through the Governor of Victoria, as an enclosure to M to G. Gairdner, 13 July 1869 (in this edition as 69-07-13c).
I hereby Covenant and promise, that in case I should hereafter be promoted, or cease to hold my rank and place in this Most distinguished Order, I will forthwith restore to the Secretary
and Registrar all the Insignia thereof which I have now received from the Sovereign,
or from the said Secretary and Registrar; and I further promise that I will, without
delay, make provision for the due Restoration of the said Insignia by my Personal
Representatives, in case I shall continue a Member of this Order until the Period
of my decease.
