Es ist hier eine schwere Zeit noch in der Colonie, obgleich die Zustände anfangen sich zu bessern, so muss ich meine Zeit hauptsächlich den ruralen Interessen hier widmen.

Ich werde Ihnen aber doch allerlei senden von Zeit zu Zeit. Wie ergeht es der bei Ihnen? Hoffentlich haben Sie sich über die 200 seltenen -Arten gefreuet.

I have sent you some freshwater algae, highly esteemed Professor, since you work specially on such plants. If you can make use of them, more shall follow. Perhaps even diatoms have collected occasionally on these specimens.

Although the conditions begin to improve, it is still a difficult time here in the Colony, so I must devote my time mainly to the rural interests here.

I shall, however, send all kinds of things from time to time. How is the at your place? It is to be hoped you are pleased about the 200 rare species.

M had shipped a specimen of in April 1893 ; see M to V. Wittrock, 14 April 1893. M presumably meant 200 seeds or specimens, since there are far fewer than 200 species of . He had earlier promised that he would try to provide seeds of ; see M to V. Wittrock, 8 January 1893.
