It is impossible for me, dear Dr Bornet, to express in words the delight, felt by me at being admited a corresponding member of the "Institut[".] One of my last aspirations in life has therewith been fulfilled. I am aware, that also you , honored friend, exerted yourself of my behalf and offer you my deep gratitude, all the more due to you, as I had so little claim on your kind consideration.

If you want Algs out of any particular genus of my collections, I will gladly send them, so far as they are available. Mr J. B Wilson’s gatherings for 1895 have not yet come into my hands; but so soon as I receive them, I will forward to you and also to our generous friend Prof Cornu, a set. By this weeks mail I beg to send you some roughly dried algs from a part of the Australian South-Coast, explored and named during Baudin’s Expedition, the second in search of Lapérouse. These Algs are not of any importance, so far as I can see on superficial inspection, but you may find minute parasitic species perhaps on them.

As the last Messageries maritimes mail brought me the official information of my election, I have by the present post endeavoured in adequate terms to express my gratitude, and have written in the beautiful French language.
