Heute wende ich mich an Dich, lieber Krichauff, um zu erfragen, ob in Deiner langen Landwirtschafts Erfahrung Dir ein besonderes Implement vorgekommen ist, welches mit Leichtigkeit u. Schnelle gebraucht werden kann, um Disteln zu vernichten, mit oder ohne Aushebung der Wurzeln. Selbstverständlich habe ich hier stets das Umhauen vor der Samenreife u sofortiges Verbrennen empfohlen. Ich habe eben den Text zu schreiben für die Chromo-Lithographien der eingewanderten Distel-Arten, welche Abbildungen unter meiner Aufsicht für das Agricultur-Departement gemacht sind.

Viel Mühe möchte ich Dir mit dieser Frage nicht bereiten. Wenn Du mich aber bald mit einigen beantwortenden Zeilen erfreuen willst, so würde ich Dir sehr dankbar sein.

Mr Molineux mit sehr lobenswerthen Umsicht hat mir eine schöne Sammlung von Algen aus der Encounter-Bai von Miss Hussey verschaft.

Today I turn to you, dear Krichauff, to find out, if, in your long agricultural experience, you have met with a special implement, which can be used with ease and speed to destroy thistles with or without lifting out the roots. Of course I have always recommended here their hewing before maturing of seeds with immediate burning. Just now I have to write the text for the chromo-lithographs of introduced thistle species.
