Further lobbying by M and his colleagues somewhat improved the prospects of government funding for the proposed Swedish-Australian expedition; see M to A. Nordenskiƶld, 20 April 1891 (in this edition as 91-04-20a), and M to H. Parkes, 18 May 1891. In the end, however, none was forthcoming.
