Allow my best thanks to be expressed, noble Friend, for the kind sending of your latest splendid paper. I admire the fullness of new observations which at the same time are expressed still in such beautiful classical words! Will just hope that the

The paper received is evidently Agardh (1873-90), part 6, where on p. 117 Agardh published Sonderia as a new genus authored by M, to which he transferred the species described by Harvey as Claudea bennettiana, citing 'F. de Muell. in litter.' [in correspondence] as authority. (See the bibliographical comment in n. 2, T. Ware to M, 12 June 1874 (in this edition as 74-06-12a).) , described by Lehmann in 1844, had been shown to be a later synonym of Drosera of Linnaeus, and the name was thus considered to be available as a generic name; see M to J. Whitelegge, 3 November 1886. J. Agardh to M, 25 December 1886, discussed the similarities of specimens to Claudea and Vanvoorstia, but said that fruiting specimens were needed in order to be sure. Agardh's description ends with 'Fructibus Sonderiae adhuc ignotis, certius de Genere vix judicare liceat' [With the fruits of Sonderia as yet unknown, it is scarcely allowable to pass judgment on the Genus with greater assurance]; M therefore continued seeking fruiting specimens (see M to J. Agardh, 15 February 1893).

Agardh made many references to M as the supplier of specimens from Elliott, Spalding and others, and from his own collections.
