Letter not found. The text given here is from Schönland (1894), p. 13. The chapter was printed in May 1889; M's letter must have been written before August 1888 since he had had a response to it when, in M to A. Engler, 16 August 1888, he reported that Schönland could not believe that should be moved from Saxifrageae to . The latest that M could have written to England and received a reply by August is mid-May, and the letter is dated accordingly. Schönland's letter not found.
