See E. Favenc to M, 27 December 1887. Favenc spent several months commencing in March 1888 exploring the upper reaches
of the Gascoyne and Ashburton Rivers, WA. Favenc chose Walter Cuthbertson as the surveyor;
see Favenc (1889) and M to A. Macdonald, 14 February 1888.
In 1872/3 I was Geologist to the North Queensland Exploring Expedition under Mr William
Hann, and discovered the first gold on the Palmer river, and I have been connected
with Geological & Mining work in one or other of the Colonies since 1856.
My terms would be £500 if for 6 months or thereabouts, or at the rate of £800 per
annum for a longer period.
I have the honor to be
Gentlemen
Your most obedt Servant,
Norman Taylor
Geological Surveyor.
