The Bauera, sent by you, dear Mr Deane, is doubtless only a reduced form of B. rubioides
The other plant is L.
I am delighted at the prospect of your joining the party for the ascent of Mt Seaview.

Most likely the difficulties and expenses of the tour are much exaggerated. I look on it merely as on a picknic on a large scale. In the festive time from Christmas to New-year most people like in this clime a mountain-tour anyhow; and surely the exertions and money are better spent on novel ground in undisturbed nature, than in overcrowded hotels and defaced natural sceneries. The excursion would have the charm of absolute novelty. Mr Maiden takes a leading interest in this project, and I advise you to see him about details of arrangements. The whole could doubtless be accomplished in little more than one week by guidance of some local resident. Have you friends, whom you could induce to share in the enterprise.
Regardfully your
Ferd. von Mueller
