Beigefügt sende ich Ihnen, edler Freund, einige Algen, welche meine Schwester an der Rivoli Bai neulich sammelte. Vielleicht finden Sie etwas Neues für Süd-Australien dabei.

Bei dieser Gelegenheit möchte ich Sie bitten, ob Sie mir gütig eine Liste liefern wollen derjenigen Algen Arten , welche unser Freund, Dr Sonder in dem 11tn Band meiner Fragmenta noch nicht notirt hat . Ich habe bereits in msc. eine solche Liste für den 12tn Band zusammen gestellt, möchte aber hin und wieder in der Synonymie

irren. Für Sie wäre es leicht, die für Australien neuen Arten supplemental zusammenzustellen. Auf neue colonial Standorte brauchen wir diesmal noch nicht einzugehen. Ich habe in dem selben Sinne auch an Hr. Dr C. Mueller, Hr. Stephani, Hr. Dr J. Mueller, Hr Dr Cooke geschrieben, bittend mir deren Listen Ende 1885 zukommen zu lassen, da ich dann einen neuen Band der Fragmenta möchte erscheinen lassen. Sollten Sie unter den Algen auffallende Zoophyten finden, so möchte ich Sie bitte,

Perhaps you will find some new thing for South Australia among them.

On this occasion, I would like to ask you whether you would kindly produce a list for me of those species of algae that our friend Dr Sonder had not yet noted in the 11th volume of my Fragmenta. I already have put together in manuscript such a list for the 12th volume but may be mistaken in the synonomy every now and then. It would be easy for you to put the species new for Australia together supplementally. This time we need not go into new colonial localities. I have written in the same sense also to Dr C. Mueller, Mr Stephani, Dr J. Mueller [and] Dr Cooke,

asking them to send their lists to me by the end of 1885, because I should like to have a new volume of the Fragmenta published then.

The proposed new fascicle of the Fragmenta was never published.

Should you find striking zoophytes among the algae, I would like to ask you simply to send them enclosed in an envelope to Bürgermeister Dr Kirchenpauer in Hamburg.

Kirchenpauer (1884), pp. 25-6, had already used Australian specimens received from Agardh, for example to describe Thuiaria cartilaginea from a collection of Mary Bate, almost certainly transmitted by M.
