Besten Dank, edler Freund, für Ihre Güte, mir Ihre schönen neuen Schriften der Lichenen zuzusenden. Lassen Sie die Hoffnung ausgesprochen sein, dass Sie uns ein System der Lichenen der ganzen Erde in nächsten Jahren liefern werden, wie es Saccardo für die Pilze thut. Dass seit Acharius kein vollständiges Flechten-System erschien, ist ausserordentlich!

Nun habe ich noch eine besondere Bitte; es ist diese: mir bis Ende dieses Jahres eine Namensliste derjenigen Flechten Arten Australiens gütig zusammen zu stellen, welche seit 1881 der 11te Band meiner Fragmenta erschien von Ihnen u. Anderen für diesen Welttheil nachgewiesen sind. Es ist nämlich meine Absicht, einen Theil des 12ten Bandes der Fragmenta im Januar 1886 erscheinen zu lassen, und darin die Liste sämmtlicher Evasculares zu supplementiren. Auf neue Colonial Standorte schon bekannter australischer Arten kommt es dabei diesmal nicht an; es handelt sich nur um die neuen Arten. Für Sie ist es ein Leichtes, diese Bitte zu erfüllen; Ich getraue mich nicht recht, das schon von mir Zusammengestellte zu veröffentlichen, da ich leicht in der Synonymie irren möchte, auch Manches vielleicht übersah. In dem selben Sinne habe ich mich an Hr. Prof. Agardh, Hr. Dr. C. Mueller, Hr. Fr. Stephani u. Hr. Dr. Cooke gewandt. Flechten stehen nun auch in Aussicht von Neu Guinea. Würden Sie Zeit haben, bald nach Empfang wenigstens die auffallendsten Arten zu benennen? Mit besten Wünschen für Ihr Wohlergehen

Now I have another special request, it is this: to kindly put together for me up to the end of this year a list of names of those lichen species of Australia that are authenticated by you and others for this continent published since the 11th volume of my Fragmenta appeared in 1881. You see it is my intention to have a part of the 12th volume of the Fragmenta appear in January 1886, and to supplement the list of all Evasculares in it.

This time it is not a matter of new colonial localities of already known Australian species; it is a question of only the new species. For you it is an easy matter to fulfil this request; I do not dare rightly to publish that already put together by myself, because I may easily err in the synonomy, also perhaps overlook much. In the same sense I have applied to Professor Agardh, Dr C. Mueller, Mr Fr. Stephani and Dr Cooke.
