Nachdem ich eben ein kurzes Schreiben an Sie richtete u. auf die Post gab, geehrter Herr Stephani, erreicht mich die Sendung der Muster von den Jungermanniaceen, welche Sie gütig benannten. Ich bin recht froh, dass Sie auch doch etwas Neues darunter fanden, so dass Sie Ihre Mühe nicht ganz umsonst hatten.
Es wäre gut, wenn Sie die neuen Arten bald publiciren, da sonst jemand Ihnen noch mit der Beschreibung dieser Species zuvor kommen könnte. Sie haben mich durch Ihre schnelle Untersuchung der gesandten Sachen recht zum Weitersammeln ermuthigt.

that you so kindly named reached me. I am very pleased that you also did find something new among them, so that your effort was not quite in vain.
It would be good if you published the new species soon, because otherwise someone could anticipate you with the description of this species.

The new species mentioned has not been identified, but see Stephani (1889).
You have encouraged me very much to further collecting by your rapid investigation of the things sent.
