Es macht mir freude Ihnen mittheilen zu können, lieber Herr Tepper, dass ich unter den von Ihnen gesandten Pflanzen ein neues miniatur Helichrysum gefunden habe. Es ähnelt den Zwergformen von Podolepis Siemssenii u P. Lessonii, ist aber ein ächtes Helichrysum, u ich bin froh, Ihren Namen damit verknupfen zu können für die Art. Die Beschreibung wird schon im South Science Record diesen Monat erscheinen.
Wie ist es eigentlich mit den Publication der Adel. Roy. Soc.? Erscheinen solche regelmässig u in kurzen Zeiträumen.
Ich habe noch Prof Ascherson’s Brief hervorzusuchen, damit Sie für Ihre Abhandlung seine ver[…] Erklärung der Organe der Keimung von
Cymodocea

erhalten. Ich war überladen mit Geschäften, wie sein Brief kam, u seine Handschrift ist eine solche, dass man den Muth des Lesens oder vielmehr Entzifferns seiner Schreibart fast verliert. Das mag auch seiner auffallenden Kurzsichtigkeit zu zuschreiben sein.

Erinnern Sie noch etwas über das kleine Ding (Helichr. Tepperi). Lese ich den Standort Muloamirtie richtig? Es ist 70 von Ihnen numerirt. Haben Sie einige Ex. abzulassen (28/Sept. 80). Hat Hr Prof Tate das Manuscr. von Calotis Kempei bekommen. Bitte befragen Sie ihn, wenn Sie ihn sehen
Seit langer Zeit hat mir keine neue Pflanze soviel Spass gemacht als dies niedliche kleine Dinge.

I am pleased to be able inform you, dear Mr Tepper, that among the plants sent by you I have found a new miniature Helichrysum. It resembles the dwarf forms of
Podolepis siemssenii

and P. lessonii, but is a genuine Helichrysum and I am pleased to be able to connect your name with it for the species. The description will appear as early as this month in the Southern Science Record.

. I was overloaded with work as his letter arrived and his handwriting is such that you almost lose heart for reading or rather deciphering his style of writing. That may also be ascribed to his noticeable short sightedness.
