My dear Baron Müeller,
I enclose plans asked [for]
and beg to return many [thank]s for the circular from F. W. Breithaupt & Sohn,
with whom I shall take an early opportunity of communicating on the subject of the
instruments in question.
1
It is not known what plans and other documents were requested and supplied. M to G.
Goyder, 12 April 1881 (in this edition as 81-04-12b) acknowledges receipt.
2
A long-established firm in Kassel supplying precision measuring instruments, especially
optical instruments for surveying.
I hope your conjectures respecting Skuthorpe
may be realized. —

M was seeking support for a search for the remains of August Classen, a member of the lost Leichhardt expedition, after J. R. Skuthorpe
claimed he had recovered the diaries of Leichhardt and Classen and the grave of Classen; see M to G. Berry, 12 December 1880. For an account of the Skuthorpe claims and aftermath, see Lewis (2013), pp. 265-80. See also M to E. Behm, 12 April 1881, and notes thereto.
Believe me
Very sincerely yours
G. W. Goyder
Surveyor General S.A.
