Letter not found. The text given here is from Gartenflora, vol. 26, p. 224. It is one of a block of 5 entries in the 'Neuestes' section signed ('E.R.)'; the other entry is signed '(C. S.)" [Carl Salomon]. Although the issues of Gartenfloa are not dated, they all have the same structure, and it appears that there were 11 issues per year, with the final one being twice the length of the others. The text given here appears in the seventh issue, presumably July. The letter is dated to May 1873 as the latest that it could have been written to be reported in that issue.
[ . Baron F. v.

There is an added comment by Regel: ‘Wir fürchten jedoch, dass die dortigen, oft strengen Winter diese Art für dortige Gegenden ungeeignet machen’ [We fear, however, that the often severe winter there makes this species unsuitable for that region].
[ . Baron F. v. Müller writes to us from Melbourne that this species tolerates greater cold than E. globulus and likewise more humid heat; therefore he has recommended this species preferentially for cultivation in the East Indies. Similarly, B. v. Müller believes that this species would be suitable for the warmer parts of Central Asia.]
