Accept my best thanks, dear Capt Standish, for the prompt courteous & obliging manner
in which you effected the exchange of the horses for my department. The animal selected
by Mr Hare is an excellent one & I feel much gratified with its acquisition.
Let me know of any requirements for your Department in planting at the latter part
of
April
, so that you may be supplied before the great demand on my nurseries will take place
in May, and probably you will be able to have any police ground prepared by that time.

MS annotation by Standish on 28 January 1867: 'Forward to Mr Hare whose attention
is most particularly called to the concluding portion, so that he may know when to
make application for any shrubs &c we may require'. Hare replied on 29 January 1867: 'Noted and returned to the C Commissioner I will not forget Dr Muellers promise
and apply for the shrubs in proper time.'
I remain, dear Captain
your regardful
Ferd. Mueller
