MS annotated by A. Petermann: 'Erh. 24. Sept. 1866' [Received 24 Sept. 1866]. This letter was forwarded by M to Petermann, presumably with his letter of 27 July 1866 (in this edition as 66-07-22b); though the enclosure is not mentioned in M's letter, the two items have the same arrival date annotated on them by Petermann.

grows 15 to 20 feet high, the leaf exactly like an accacia but of a very dark green color, the seed grows in a pod like a bean. I quite omitted to bring the leaf. The tree I have seen before but this was the first time I could obtain any of the seed.
I am my dear Sir
Yours faithfully
