Letter not found. The text given here is from 'Mr. D. Mclntyres Journey across Australia, from Victoria to the Gulf of Carpentaria, and discovery of supposed traces of Leichhardt', Proceedings of the Royal Geographical Society, vol. 9 (1865), p. 305. It follows extracts from letters from M to R. Murchison of 24 January 1865, M to R. Murchison, 24 February 1865 (in this edition as 65-02-24e), and M to R. Murchison, 22 April 1865, and is dated to April 1865 by analogy with the date of the last of these and as the latest likely date on which it could have been sent to be reported, as it seems to have been, at the meeting of the Royal Geographical Society on 12 June.
[The following letter from Mr. Edward Wilson, of the 'Melbourne Argus', to Sir Roderick Murchison, relates to the same subject:-"Dear Sir,
"You showed such an intelligent interest in our friend Mueller's new movement in search of the unfortunate Leichhardt, that I think it right to forward you a passage from his last letter, and also an article from the recent Melbo u rne papers …."
