Ich habe kürzlich mehrfach an Sie geschrieben u. auch die Landkarte, welche Sie wünschen (zum zweiten mal?) gesandt. Jetzt möchte ich Sie bitten, den jungen Travers namentich darauf aufmerksam zu machen, dass die Insekten Fauna der Chatham Inseln beobachtenswerth sei. Der Graf Castelnau, dessen berühmter Name Name

Ihnen bekannt sein wird, ist sehr begierig die Coleoptera Neu Seelands so vollständig als möglich seiner Sammlung, die nur der des britisch Museums nachsteht, zuzufügen u die neuen Arten zu beschreiben. Sie wissen er befehligte die grosse franz. Expedition in Südamerika, u hat seitdem in Südafrika u Siam geforscht. Seine Werke sind zahlreich. Etwaige Käfer für diesen Gelehrten gesammelt könnten einfach in Weingeist gesandt werden. So ist die Art der Aufbewahrung nicht mühevoll.

Now I want to ask you to point out to young Travers, that the insect fauna of the Chatham Islands is worth observing. Count Castelnau, whose famous name will be known to you, is very anxious to add the Coleoptera of New Zealand as complete as possible to his collection, which is second only to that of the British Museum, and to describe the new species. You know that he was in command of the great French expedition in South America and has since explored in South Africa and Siam. His works are numerous. Any beetles collected for this scientist could simply be sent in alcohol. So the manner of preservation is not difficult.
