erwartet, u. wenn es mir irgend möglich ist, will ich durch die Güte des Commandanten 1 Kiste Pflanzen für Ihr Herbar mit selbige an Sie befördern.
Ich schuldige Ihnen noch immer meine photographische Karte, welche ich jetzt beifüge, hoffend dass sie selbige freundlich entgegen nehmen wollen, aber bedauernd, dass ein längeres Bronchienleiden mir so melancholische Züge aufgeprägt, welche bei rückkehrender Gesundheit hoffentlich freundlichern Ausdrücken weichen werden.
Ich bewundere Ihre Rastlosigkeit u Productionskraft in dem literarisch Felde. Ich habe Ihre Bände über die Indischen Pflanzen vollständig vor mir. Es ist mir aber seit Jahren misslungen Ihre Abhandlung über die Casuarinen zu erstehen auf dem Wege des Buchhandels. Könnten Sie mir freundlichst darin beistehen?
Pamplin in London, Bailliere in Paris oder Sonder in Hamburg würden jede Versendung an mich vermitteln.

Revered Professor,
The Dutch steamer, the warship Djambi, is expected shortly in our harbour, and if I can possibly arrange it, I shall, by the kindness of the commander, forward by it a case of plants for your herbarium.
I still owe you my photograph and enclose it here in the hope, that you will graciously accept it, but I regret that a prolonged bronchial affliction has given me such a melancholy appearance that will, I hope, be replaced by a more friendly expression with returning good health.
