Letter not found. The text given here is from Bulletin de la Société Impériale Zoologique d'Acclimatation , vol. 8, (1861), p. 611. It is dated to October as the last likely date that a letter could have been sent that would allow Ramel to report it to the meeting of the Society held on 6 December.

Wilson et Mueller viennent d'être nommés président et vice-président de la Société d'acclimatation de Melbourne, informe la Société des efforts que fait M. Mueller pour arriver à nourrir le Phascolarctos avec des feuilles sèches d' , seul moyen qui puisse lui permettre de faire parvenir ce précieux animal. M. Mueller donne également tous ses soins pour trouver un moyen qui lui permette de nous faire parvenir vivant l'Ornithorhynque.]
