could have been sent that would allow Ramel to report it to the meeting of the Society
held on 6 December.

[Mr Ramel, in announcing that our two honorary members Messrs. Wilson and Mueller
have just been appointed president and vice-president of the Acclimatisation Society
of Melbourne,
informs the Society of Mr. Mueller's efforts to feed the Phascolarctos with dry
leaves to allow him to send this precious animal.
M. Mueller also gives all his efforts to finding a way to enable him to send us living
Ornithorhynchus.]

At a meeting on 7 August to adopt formal rules to govern the Acclimatisation Society
of Victoria, it was agreed that the Council should appoint the various officers within
one month (Argus , 8 August 1861, p. 5).
