editorial addition. Joseph Hooker received the draft between October 1860 and 20 November 1861 (see J.
Hooker to M, 20 November 1860). It was therefore probably sent about June. A set of publications had been sent
per Great Britain in March (see M to J. Hooker, 17 March 1860).

Enclosed draft for R.S.,
if required, otherwise for Mr Pamplin. In should you happen to see Mr Backhouse,
pray let him have a set of the Fragmenta forwarded pr Great Britain, for which I would
be happy to receive a copy of his work on Austr travels
But pray do not mind, unless you happen to see him.
