My dear Mr Gregory.

With these lines I wished to introduce to you the enterprising navigator of the Murray, Capt Cadell, who has done so much for the advancement of the Australian South.

I had nearly taken the field of exploration again, Capt Freeling having spontaneously offered to me to be his companion,
