This attempted intrusion on my litterary position is a great worry to me. I am engaged, to get all notes now into order for the continuing volume, though some few years more postponement would bring the work more to finality. Sir Joseph Hooker must also feel, that hurrying on unnecessarily a supplement to the "genera"

I cannot learn, that Dr Prentice publicly corrected his printed misstatements about the subsidies to Bentham for the Flora Australiensis notwithstanding my telegraphic demand
