Since a long time, dear Prof. Lange, I intended to write to you; but in the busy departmental life in a young colony it is difficult, to do all, that could be wished. I have however born

you always in most friendly remembrance, not only in connection with the Danish Flora, but also in reference to Spanish plants, recorded in your and Willkomm's great work,

irrespective of my reminiscences of your great kindness to me through many years and so again also quite recently. —
My object in writing now to you, my honored friend, is to ascertain which of my works are contained in the Library of the Kopenhagen Academy, into which I became recently and so generously elected.

M had been elected a Foreign Member of the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences in April 1890; see M to H. Zeuthen, 3 June 1890 (in this edition as 90-06-03b).
It may perhaps be possible, to complete more yet the series of these books. I will endeavour also, to send a Giant , but none is left known to me now as available, so that it may only be next year that one more will be discovered.

In the event, M was able to find a for Lange that season; see M to J. Lange, 17 April 1893.
Failing in that I must send to Kopenhagen 2 smaller caudices , which could be placed in the Conservatory close together, so as to give an idea of a gigantic one.
Remember me kindly to Etatsrath Steenstrup, whom I met personally with Oerstedt and Forchhammer at the "Versammlung der Naturforscher und Aerzte" in Kiel 1846.
