The Chief Secretary, A. Deakin, approved M's request on 23 January 1889 and M was informed; he returned the file on 25 January 'with best thanks and a solicitation, that the two fascicles may be sent across to the Masonic Club'. On 28 January H. Moors, for Wilson, minuted: 'I have approved on file M916 of the Govt Botanist taking charge of all the numbers of the dried plants in this Office. He can therefore comply with this request direct.' See M to [A. Deakin], 12 February 1889 (in this edition as 89-02-12a).

T. R. Wilson Esqr,
Undersecretary.
Sir
I have the honor to solicit, that a copy of each of the fascicles of the "Educational Collection of Austr. plants", may be granted to Dr Kirtikar, the Bombay-Delegate to the Medical Congress.
2
Intercolonial Medical Congress of Australasia, Melbourne, January 1889.
Dr Kirtikar has asked me very particularly for dried Australian plants, to take back with him, as he is devoted also collaterally to Botany.
I shall make up for him a parcel from spare-specimens in the botanic Museum, but the "Educational Collections" should prove particularly interesting to the University-Museum of Bombay. Two of the fascicles are still amply available. Dr Kirtikar's Adress is Masonic Club, Masonic Hall, Collins-Street East.
I have the honor to be,
Sir, your obedient servant
Ferd von Mueller
