Baron F. Von Mueller K.C.M.G.
Sir,
I have carefully looked over the Notes sent by Mr Tepper,
and altho they are excellent, it would I fear be next to impossible to have them read
at our Club, seeing that our Rules are clear on this point, i.e. that all papers read
must be contributed by a member
(or Hon. Member)
of the Club
, & the same rule would apply to the Club's journal. I much regret that Mr Tepper is
not already a member.

That is, the notes sent with O. Tepper to M, 25 April 1874 (letter not found); see M to O. Tepper, 10 April 1887. The 'notes' were probably Tepper's apparently never published paper, 'The Features
and Flora of the Ninety Mile Desert', that he read to the Field Naturalists' Section
of the Royal Society of South Australia on 15 March 1887; see Kraehenbuehl (1969), p. 34.
I have the honor to be Sir
Yours Obediently
Chas French

M forwarded his letter to Tepper (see M to O. Tepper, 29 May 1887 (in this edition as 87-05-29a)).
