Heute, lieber Herr Holtze, habe ich die Beschreibung der Eugenia Holtzei ausgearbeitet, u. hoffe ich Ihnen die Beschreibung in einer Woche gedruckt senden zu können. Es ist der Baum N.44 mit
Eucalyptus

ähnlichen Blüthen (Kelch).
Ich kann aber nicht zur Überzeugung kommen dass die Sämlings- oder Keimpflanzen, welche Sie sandten, zum selben Baum gehören; daher bitte ich Sie, in nächster Jahreszeit nochmals nach dem Erlang reifer Früchte zu streben, die noch an den jungen beblätterten Zweigen haften.
Es ist überhaupt immer gut, beim Sammeln der Herbarium-Exemplare, die in Blüthe sind, jedesmal nach wenigstens jungen Früchten zu suchen; oft findet man auch noch Frucht Überreste vom vergangenen Jahr. Es spart viel Zeit für mich und verhütet Versehen in Benennungen.

. However, I am not convinced that the juvenile plants or seedlings you sent belong to the same tree. Therefore I ask you to attempt once more in the next season to obtain ripe fruit still attached to the young leaf-bearing branches.
Generally, it is always a good idea when collecting herbarium specimens in flower, to search each time at least for immature fruit; often one can also still find remnants of fruit from the previous year. It saves me much time and prevents mistakes in identifications.
