The remaining text is at the bottom of the second page of the sheet.
I have received 2 or 3 letters from you to which I have not replied
(I) Because postage is so heavy until your Government will adopt Postal Cards (2)
Because I had but little to say.
43
Letters not found.
As far as I can I will save you specimens of Australian Fungi, but hitherto duplicates
were handed over to Kew. I have already a number laid aside for you. My "Illustrations"
occupy an immense time as I do not employ an artist at all but draw all myself and
color the patterns.
This with the revision of all
Pyrenomycetes
and a proposed Monograph of
Polyporus
are about sufficient work for 2 or 3 men. Excuse this short note — as you want the
above list.
44
Cooke (1881-91).
45
Cooke published his 'Synopsis Pyrenomycetum' across several issues of
Grevillea, commencing with Cooke (1884) and concluding with Cooke (1891). The articles were
reprinted in Cooke (1886-91).
46
The proposed monograph was not published but Cooke issued in seven parts his 'preliminary
lists, imperfect though they may be, in order to indicate the arrangement we have
decided to adopt' (Cooke (1885), p. 80), with the last issued as Cooke (1886-7), pp.
50-60.
Yours faithfully
