The collecting numbers given are used more than once, for different species, often
within a year. The pattern of collecting numbers does not allow the year that this
list was sent to be definitively deduced. It is dated to 1884 as the earliest that
it could have been sent; 1887 also appears to be possible. It also appears that not
all specimens have been retained in MEL: collecting number 2 is recorded only once,
for a collection dated to 1890.
