Let me thank you, dear Louise, for the beautiful photogram, which you sent me, and which shall have a most honored place in the Album of those photographic cards, which I value most.

Though different to your expression some years ago, it is not a less delightful one. I was glad, to percieve, that the volume of Lytton's poems pleased you.

Not identified.

As a scholar in ancient as well as modern languages, he has a great command over words, and he imbibed much of his expressions from Schiller. I had the honor of interchanging letters with him 25 years ago.

If you have never read his translations of Schiller's poems, I can send you my copy on loan.

M first became aware of the translation in the edition of Schiller (1844) (see M to E Bulwer Lytton, 24 November 1864, in this edition as 64-11-24e). It is not however known whether the edition he later owned is that edition or Schiller (1852).

Unfortunately I could not get an other here nor readily in Europe. It is my intention to sit once more for a photographic picture, probably in 1885; somehow never a good likeness of me was taken anywhere. When it is done, I shall have the happiness of sending dear niece Louise a copy.
