are largely but not entirely the same as those of the eighth, as about one fifth of the entries in the present list are new; death carries off annually some correspondents; new ones and new Societies arise; some get into arrear with their own sendings; some are interested more in the species of one decade than those of others; and one hundred copies would not suffice to supply all those, who might perhaps be entitled for consideration. I have therefore used my best discretion each time in the distribution, when a part of the work appeared. — As the supplement of the "Census of Australian plants"

consists only of half a sheet of print and is therefore not costly, perhaps the hon. the Premier will kindly allow that also "on behalf of the Vict. Government" a copy goes with each of the 9th Decade.

On 25 April 1884 the Secretary to the Premier, E. Thomas, responded: 'Approved by the Premier and returned to the Under Secretary'. M was duly informed of the Premier's decision and on 29 April returned the file 'with best thanks for approval'.
