By this or the next post, dear Dr Bride, I have to write to Mr Th. Fischer in Cassel,
and would like very much to let him know, whether the trustees would likely purchase
some of the continuations of the Cassel Works.
We should certainly endeavour to keep the important series of palaeontologic volumes
complete for local reference here in our own independent researches.

See also M to T. Bride, 9 May 1883 (in this edition as 83-05-09a), and M to T. Bride, 30 August 1883.
A publisher, like Mr Fischer, must have very heavy expenses for these
particular
literary issues of his establishment, and as the sale would be limited, the prices
would be also so much larger, than those of popular works. He would however doubtless
make large reductions of the prices, if extensive orders were given.
