Sir,
The very kind expressions of consideration for the interests of this Institution conveyed
in your esteemed favor under date 20th Sept. instant
forbid that I should delay to reply by making my personal acknowledgments, and in
anticipation of instructions to the same effect, I am sure that I am warranted in
tendering you the most grateful acknowledgments of the Council also, for the invaluable
service you have rendered, and the obligations you have so generously imposed. The
Council never contemplated other than defraying the expenses of the gentlemen who
have given their services and their time to deliver this Winter Course of Lectures.
— You may rest assured that they will entertain a very deep sense of indebtedness
to you when your letter is submitted for their consideration. —
