Letter not found; in M to D. Gillies, 8 February 1873, M dated Gillies's communication to 7 February.

I commenced at once the elaboration of a return of the present stock of plants in the two nurseries of the botanic Garden, and I shall have the honor of submitting it to you to morrow.

See M to D. Gilles, 13 February 1873.

I beg to draw respectfully attention to the fact, that your wish for such a return was not brought to my cognizance as Director until the evening of the 8th inst (Saturday) through any ministerial communication with myself.
