Crown Lands Office
Adelaide 26 May 1869
Sir,
In reply to your letter of the 15th Inst addressed to the Deputy Surveyor General,
2
See M to A. Cooper, 15 May 1869 (in this edition as 69-05-15b).
requesting him to authorise a portion of the collection of plants &c which have arrived, or may arrive, from the Northern Territory, to be sent to your department, I am desired by the Honorable the Commissioner of Crown Lands to inform you that he has received only one instalment as yet, which was at once handed by him, in the ordinary course, to Dr Richard Schomburgk, Director of the Botanic Gardens in this city.
As it was arranged that several specimens of each plant, &c, would be secured, with a view to exchanges with, and distribution to, the various Scientific gentlemen in correspondence with Dr Schomburgk, I am to request you to place yourself in communication with that gentleman, who will be most happy to furnish you with any specimens he may be able to supply.
I am,
Sir
Your obedient Servant
James N. Blackmore
Secretary
