MS annotation by Hooker: 'Received [Jy] 1866 without date / JH'
Dated to May 1866 on the basis of month of arrival at Kew and reference to autumn seed harvest. The ‘parcel of seeds, 238 species’ mentioned in M to J. Hooker, 28 May 1866 (in this edition as 66-06-28b) is likely to be the transmission anticipated here, supporting a date of May 1866 for this fragment.
Is there any means of obtaining the extraordinar plants, which form such a prominent feature in the landscape of the Canary Islands? I mean , , Dracaena, Draco, , &c. All would thrive so well in this country.
With kindest regards
Ferd Mueller.
I shall send a good collection of seeds by next mail, from this autumnal harvest. Did the orchids arrive & [grow]
