Sir
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of yesterday conveying
to me his Excellency's instructions, that the sum of thirty pounds Sterling may be
expended in obtaining seeds of Australian forest-trees for the Government of Madras.
In reply I beg to inform you, that I shall give the best attention to the subject
entrusted to me by his Excellency, and that I shall expend the sum named in what will
appear to my judgement the most advantageous manner.
