Hochverehrtester Gönner,

Ich habe Ihnen den Empfang Ihrer beiden letzten grossen Schreiben zu bestätigen, und Ihnen meinen innigsten Dank abzustatten für Ihre grosse Güte Ihre so wichtige Fürsprache einzulegen um mir zu einem Exemplar der offiziellen Karten von Australien zu verhelfen. Die bereits bewilligten Karten werden mir eine grosse Freude gewähren und mir wichtige Dienste leisten, da man ohne dieselben in Australischer Geographie und Kartographie stets zurück bleiben müsste. Von eben so grossem Werthe wird mir der am 8. April von Ihnen per Suffolk abgeschickte Band Ihres grossen Werkes sein, und ich werde nicht ermangeln, dessen Empfang sofort anzuzeigen.

Vor einigen Tagen kamen wichtige Nachrichten aus Inner-Afrika, die ich sofort autographiren liess, ich erlaubte mir, am 25. d.

dieses Monats.

ein Exemplar dieses autograph. Berichtes an Ihre Adresse unter Kreuzband abzusenden. Der Umschlag dieser Zeilen, ein Abdruck einer Karte von mir über Gregory´s Reisen in NW. Australien, wird Ihnen zeigen, dass wir hier in Europa fortgehends ein lebhaftes Interesse an Australischen Forschungen nehmen.

and to express my sincerest gratitude for your great kindness of giving your weighty recommendation, to assist me in obtaining copies of the official maps of Australia. The maps already granted will give me great pleasure and will render an important service, as without them one must always lag behind in Australian geography and cartography. The volume of your great work,

dispatched per the Suffolk on 8 April, will be just as valuable to me, and I shall not be remiss in acknowledging its receipt at once.

A few days ago important news arrived from Central Africa, which I immediately had copied, and on 25th inst. I took the liberty of sending a copy of this autographic report to your address as printed matter.
