Sir
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter, dated 14. June,
and beg in reply to inform you, that I have in accordance to your Honors suggestion
requested Capt. Black
to proceed to Hobarton, in order to aford to the Gentlemen in Tasmania interested
in the introduction of the salmon and more especially to the Government such advice,
as the practical experience of Capt Black is likely to offer not only on the prosecution
of the enterprise as regards importation of ova, but also in reference to the most
suitable prearrangements for locating the spawn in the Tasmanian Rivers under the
greatest advantage.

Alexander Black.
I have to thank your Honor for the kind compliance with my suggestion of receiving
some Mount Wellington ice for the expected salmons. We were however fortunate enough
to have the ice ready before the arrival of the "S. Curling", through the zeal and
disinterested exertions of Mr Harrison, M.P., who in the attempt to procure it in
time, however broke part of the machinery in his factory.
I need not assure your Honor, that it will always aford me the utmost of pleasure,
to aid where-ever I can, in the future renewal of the enterprise of introducing the
Salmons into Tasmania, and I trust you will for this or any other philanthropic purpose
most unhesitatingly command my humble services.
I have the honor to be,
Sir,
your most obedient and humble servant
Ferd. Mueller.
The honorable
Wm. Henty Esq, M.P.,
Chief Secretary to the Tasmanian Government.
