Melbourne botanic & zoologic Garden,
25 Aug 1859.
Sir
I have the honor to solicit, that you will be pleased to sanction the remittance of
the sum of £23.14/2d twenty three pounds fourteen shillings and two pennies Sterling
to be made to Mesrs E. G. Henderson et son, Nurserymen to the Queen, St. Johns Wood,
London, this sum completing the payment of an order of plants given last year by this
office to the above gentlemen.
1
See M to J. O'Shanassy, 25 August 1859 (in this edition as 59.08.25b).
The plants, for which I have the honor of sending in the claim, arrived in excellent
condition last week.
From the appended balance sheet it will be observed that Messrs Henderson & son claim
for freight &c of last years consignment £12.18/4d,
but since I am in possession only of an account of £12.2/8d and the remainder of
the shipping expenses is not specified, I thought proper of reducing the claim accordingly.
2
See E. G. Henderson & Son to M, 11 May 1859.
I have the honor to be,
Sir,
your most obedient & humblest servant
Ferd. Mueller.
The honorable the Chief Secretary

will advise Henderson & Son.' On 19 September the Under Treasurer, E. Symonds replied
that the remittance had been made as requested. Moore duly informed M on 26 September.
M 'Thankfully returned' the file on 29 September.
