Letter not found. The text given here is from a copy supplied by Henderson & Son to
the Colonial Office, on the reverse of their letter of 7 May 1859, reporting that
the remittance mentioned in M's letter had not been received. See also E. G. Henderson & Sons to M, 11 May 1859, where M's attention is drawn to the non-receipt of the remittance, and they announce
that they have written to Colonial Office. M's request for the payment had been made
by 18 November; see M to C, Duffy, November 1858 (in this edition as 58-11-00d).

Gentlemen
I have the honor to enclose a copy of a letter, and a list of plants sent to you by
last mail.
I beg now to add that the remittance of £100 – will be effected to you by the Department
of Public Works of this Colony, by the mail leaving today.

Folio 482 is a draft of a Colonial Office letter to Henderson & Son dated 18 May 1859,
saying that the Colonial Office has not received the draft 'but that as it may probably
be made through … the Agent Gen. for Victoria', a copy of their letter had been sent
'to that gentleman with instructions to communicate with you on the subject'.
