I have the honor to return the enclosed documents
and to thank the honorable the Chief Secretary for his liberality of sanctioning
the use of the Government press for botanical papers and for placing kindfully the
sum of £80 for lithographic drawings at my disposal.

On 21 April 1858 the Under Treasurer, E. Symonds, wrote to Moore: 'In accordance with
the request contained in your letter of the 14 inst No 2611 the authority issued to
the Government Storekeeper for expenditure out of the vote for the incidental expenses
of the Botanic Garden has been cancelled to the extent of £50'. Moore referred Symonds's
letter to M on 23 April 1858 and M returned it with the above letter to the Chief Secretary's Department (E58/3258,
unit 745, VPRS 1189, Public Record Office, Victoria).
