Sir
I do myself the honor of acknowledging the receipt of your letter of the 16th Inst
with accompanying papers connected with the exploring expedition of Mr Gregory —
and in compliance with your request I enclose a tracing of the Country as laid down
by Mr Babbage.

M to A. Freeling, 16 April 1857.
As that Gentleman met with some misadventures in the north, possibly the map cannot
be relied on for great accuracy; but as this Department is now engaged in making a
Trigonometrical Survey of the Country North of Mt Serle
I should probably before very long be able to send you information of the more Northern
Districts of this Colony which may be looked upon as absolutely correct.
